Movement as Query (MaQ) is a computational system that lets a dancer's body search a digital performance archive. Built by preformIO in collaboration with Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation and Future Perfect Studio as part of the Bad, Bad AI residency, MaQ uses motion tracking and machine learning to turn live movement into a query — retrieving and recomposing footage from Jonah Bokaer's archive based on how a new gesture moves, not what it's called. Demoed live at RECESS , March 2026.
